Shower Repairs in Bellara
Leaking heads, tepid water and a weak spray sit behind most shower repairs in Bellara, and Bellara households ring us about all of them every week. Most of the time the fix is a part, not a whole new shower. Every job is done by a licensed plumber, and we work same-day where we can.

Three parts cause nearly every shower fault we see on the island:
- the mixer and the cartridge inside it
- the head, with its spray holes and any flow limiter
- the arm or rail that holds everything at the wall
We diagnose which one is at fault, quote a fixed price, and fix it. For the wider fixtures around it, our bathroom plumbing page sets out the full range, and if water is getting through the tiling rather than the fittings, read our leaking shower repairs page instead.

Reading the Signs of a Failing Mixer
Three faults show up most: a drip that never stops, water that runs cold or lukewarm, and a spray that has gone weak. Each one points somewhere different.
A drip with the water turned off
The mixer is letting water past a tired washer or cartridge. A little run-out from the head after a shower is normal; a drip that goes for hours is not.
Cold or lukewarm water
A worn cartridge can over-dilute the hot with cold. A handle that stiffens or a temperature that drifts points the same way.
Weak or uneven flow
Scale furring the spray holes is the usual suspect on Bribie Island, where sea air and hard water both work on the fittings. A flow limiter in the head or a tired cartridge can thin the spray too.

Repair or Replace Your Shower Fittings
Replace when the part is worn past swapping the washer or the cartridge, or when an outlet is being added or shifted. Everything else is repair territory.
A repair suits:
- a cartridge or washer still available for your mixer
- scale and flow-limiter problems in the head
- a stiff handle or a diverter sending water the wrong way
A replacement makes sense when:
- the mixer body itself has corroded
- the fittings are so old that parts no longer exist
- you are adding an outlet or moving the shower
Any new fitting we supply carries WaterMark certification, which a licensed plumber can legally install only when the product has it, plus registration under the national water efficiency scheme. A new home requires a 3-star showerhead minimum, though a renovation does not. Queensland tenancy law adds one figure landlords need: a rental's showerhead has to flow at no more than 9 litres a minute before the tenant can be charged for the whole water bill.
Adding an outlet or shifting the shower counts as notifiable work when the building already exists. No council permit applies, and the plumber lodges a Form 4 with the QBCC inside 10 business days of finishing. The plumber pays the lodgement fee and may pass that cost on to the owner.
If a whole new bathroom is on the cards, our bathroom renovation plumbing page maps the full job.

Heads, Arms, Rails and Mixers Explained
A shower runs, in order from the spray end: head, arm or rail, hose, then mixer. Knowing which part does what makes the fault easier to describe on the phone.
Shower head
the spray end. Any householder can change it, and the finished job still has to comply with the standards.
Shower arm
the pipe that brings water from the wall to a fixed head.
Rail
the bar holding a handheld head, fed off the wall connection by a hose.
Mixer cartridge
the part inside the mixer controlling flow and the hot-cold blend.
Diverter
the valve that switches water between a bath spout and the head. Water still pouring from the spout during a shower means a worn diverter.
The head, arm and rail sit exposed, so we reach them without opening anything. A mixer built into the tiling needs access through the wall, which changes the job.

Can You Fix a Shower Yourself in Queensland
Yes, for the head only: any householder can change a shower head, because the QBCC lists that as unregulated work. The arm, the mixer and its cartridge belong to a licensed plumber, classed as minor work that needs a licensee but no permit and no paperwork.
Salt air off the Pumicestone Passage shortens the life of exposed fittings here. The growth around Clayton Park and Crest Park mixes 1970s houses with brand-new builds, so the age of the fittings varies street by street. Area-level figures put five-year growth at 9.2 per cent, and 210 dwellings were approved in 2021-22 alone, so plenty of showers near Bellara Caravan Park are barely run in while others predate the bridge.
We bring parts for both.

Shower Questions From Bellara Homes
Call (07) 3523 7172Can a plumber fix my shower in Bellara?
Yes, we fix the fittings: the head, the arm or rail, the hose and the mixer with its cartridge. Water getting through tiles or the floor is a different job, and our leaking shower page covers that side of it.
Why is my shower head dripping when the water is off?
A drip that persists with the water off points to the mixer, where a worn washer or cartridge lets water slip the seal. The head itself is rarely to blame. A short run-out after use is normal.
Why does my shower run cold?
Often the mixer: a tired cartridge blends in too much cold and leaves the shower lukewarm. When no hot tap in the house works, the water heater is at fault, which our hot water page covers.
What causes low shower pressure in Bellara?
Scale furring the spray holes, a flow limiter built into the head or a worn cartridge can each thin the flow at one outlet. Weak pressure everywhere in the house is a separate fault on the supply side.
Do plumbers fix leaking shower walls?
No, not the walls themselves: we fix the pipes and fittings behind and inside the wall. A failed membrane is a waterproofing matter, which belongs to a licence class we do not cover.
